Laurel Farm Herbs News
hardy herbs make happy cooks Story date: 24th November 2008
Winter is well on its way. This weekend with snow falling and all the herbs growing away outside as nature intended. The plants you buy from Laurel Farm Herbs are truly carbon neutral when it comes to growing over the winter. Our plants are grown in unheated tunnels or greenhouse so are truly hardy. No need for chemicals or pesticides, either organic or inorganic, to be used during the year to ensure healthy plants. Controlled release feed is used which gives the plants what they require when the temperature reaches the correct level - releasing it as the temperature gets warmer and the plants need it.

We have been growing all our herbs outside for the last seven years. Herbs potted up in the spring and summer are grown outside without fleece or plastic covers. Only those plants potted in October onwards are placed under cover with air circulating freely. Growing plants outside results in less loss of plants meaning that we can pass on those savings to you - the valued customer.

Laurel Farm Herbs strongly believes in protecting the planet and have been using peat free compost over the last few years. We believe we supply the largest pots of culinary herbs by post and as cash becomes tighter for all of us you definitely get more for your money.
